Nicole Farmer

I am a writer living in the mountains of North Carolina. I was born in Manhattan, in Washington Heights, and moved thirteen times by the time I reached the age of seventeen. I have lived in Massachusetts, Vermont, Texas, California, Connecticut, Louisiana, West Virginia, various small villages in Mexico, Mexico City, and Cambridge, England. My family moved frequently during the years my dad was a history professor with Friends World College and my mother was a model and social worker. My sister and I continued to move after their divorce, which gave me a wide view of the world and a taste for adventure and change.

As a child, I spent a great deal of time outdoors in nature and I feel more at home in the woods than in a confined space, unless of course I am snuggled up with a good book! These days, I still love traveling because of the new perspectives it gives me and the opportunity to immerse myself in different cultures, but my husband and I agree that returning to our home in Asheville is always something we look forward to.
